Chocolate Adventures

Stories on this page all have something to do with chocolate; whether it is adventures in pursuit of fine chocolate or adventurous ways of burning off extra chocolate. Sooner or later, all my stories come around to chocolate.

Costa Rica

Inca Trail in Peru

Biking in Holland

Hiking Mt. Kilimanjaro

Lost in the Woods

One important aspect of living the chocolate life is conscientiously becoming a participant in life, rather than a spectator. In the last half of the twentieth century we in the U.S. began a downward spiral from doers to spectators. We have focused m03/09/2008ns keep getting larger, more sophisticated and more seductive. Coincidentally, this has occurred when we have more food available to us, and for less effort, than at any time in human history.

We should try to live in the world, rather than in a box (TV, computer, house or car).
Our propensity to spend our lives gazing at one screen or another is a pervasive and unrecognized substance abuse, and one that has a strong negative impact on the quality of our lives.
But folks, LIFE IS SHORT. Reality TV is NOT reality, and watching a screen does not burn enough calories to support our eating habits.
Your life is reality. Be a participant in life, even if it gets you into uncomfortable scrapes, as it sometimes does me.
I hope you enjoy my stories about where my curiosity and the pursuit of fine chocolate have taken me. But read quickly, and then run out and play.
